Enter the world of the Carpathians: an immortal race of beings with animal instincts whose males, without their lifemate's light, only have one option ...turning vampire. Zacarias de la Cruz has finally found his lifemate, but is it too late? Is he too close to turning into a vampire to turn back?

  • Zacarias De La Cruz: Carpathian hunter; carries a dark secret of a predator in his soul. Wants to end his existence.
  • Marguarita Fernandez: Heroine, is able to communicate with the souls of animals/later humans too. She has been mute, after she was attacked at her vocal cords by a vampire in the last book and saved by Zacarias.
  • Esteban Eldridge: Lea's brother. Tries to impress Marguarita to get into the De La Cruz family home. Drug addicted, searching for a kick, working for DS.
  • DS: Vampire hunter, bad influence on Esteban, mostly high on drugs.
  • Cesaro Santos: Capitan of the ranch, responsible for all the workers whenever a De La Cruz is not in residence.
  • Julio Santos: Son of Cesaro, Ranch worker and horse lover. Like a brother for Marguarita.
  • Lea Eldridge: Esteban's sister, wants to just be happy; can fly helicopters and small machines.
  • Rafael De La Cruz: Zacarias's brother
  • Riordan De La Cruz: Zacarias's youngest brother
  • Manolito De La Cruz: Zacarias's brother
  • Dominic Dragonseeker: Solange's lifemate; very old and powerful hunter.
  • Solange: Dominic's lifemate; part jaguar, royal bloodline. Can enable other hunters to walk in the sun for brief amounts of time if they drink her blood.
