Another good book by Catherine Coulter. I listened to the book on CD and it made me laugh out loud several times. The plot wasn't as good as the preceeding books in the series, but still enjoyable.

For a romance novel (of which I am not a fan) this was actually a good read. There was enough 'other' in her plot to make it an interesting story. It was actually anti-abuse and domination by men - even though it took place early in the nineteenth century. (One of the things I hate about romance novels is that so many of them have male characters who are at the very least overbearing and boorish [and often worse] and female characters who either begin the story strong and then go swoon-y, weak and snivelly or they're like that from the get go.) The main female characters in this book were strong and didn't hide it. The male heroes were not the usual jerks. They weren't out to dominate the women and 'put them in their place'. The romance was mostly sex and sexual attraction which were craftily dealt with by the author. I didn't have my usual urge to throw the book in the trash. And a wonderful humor was woven throughout the entire novel. As much as I hate to admit it, this was a fine romance novel. I would recommend it to anyone who would not be offended by the sexual content.

Coulter's Sherbrooke series is a great read. These regency romances are beyond the pap of the usual regency romance. Her characters are funny and warm. There's always an adventure, a treasure...and a family ghost or two, although paranormal is not the focus of her stories.

Pretty good romance book. I didn't think that this was one of Catherine Coulter's best though. She spent too much of the plot with the Sherbrooke characters and underdeveloped the romance of this book.
