As I recall, I did not do well with this unit freshman year, and I am sort of holding it against the Odyssey. Not one of my favorites.

    I love Roman mythology. i read it when i was 15 and that was it, i was hooked on mythology.

    I read the simplified versions of homers masterpieces when I was younger. Now I'm starting in on the real things. Bit weird in poem form but more interesting. They seem a bit brutal, especially the Illiad, allot of blood soaked sand and such, but these classics are definitely on my "save list".

    Where all of literature started. Fagles translation of these two masterpieces makes them very accessible to modern Americans. I come back to these poems repeatedly as no one has been able to top them for the raw brutality, humanity and power they evoke.
