“REQUIRED READING - ELEVENTH GRADE: This novel is about a small town located by the canneries in Salinas, California. Main characters are Mack, Doc, and Lee Chong. The theme is one of unity just like The Grapes of Wrath. I liked this book very much because it was easy to enjoy and I found myself liking and knowing the characters well. ”
