“With a loss, Jim is more determined than ever. Now that he has experienced Davina's games and see the virgin sacrifice, he is using all resources to win. Reilly and Veck are police officers, she is IA and Veck in homicide. Veck's father is a serial killer on death row and Jim is trying to help Veck move on without following his father. There is an unexpected death that changes the complexion of the game and has repercussions for both sides.”NjoiReading wrote this review Thursday, August 16, 2012. “Hmm...I like the ever-present characters in this series [Jim/Adrian/Nigel/Devina], but the rotating hero/heroines kind of let me down as characters, which may just be due to their quick intros/quick stories/quick "fall in love" sequence. I'm going to keep reading this series, but I think I like Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood books better. Though I thoroughly enjoyed the crossovers in the two series present in this book; hopefully there will be more of that in the future books!”Melissa S wrote this review Monday, August 13, 2012. “Not nearly as good as the first two in this series...disappointed. Think I'm done with the Fallen Angels as a result.”Pat Jackson wrote this review Friday, June 8, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“All of J.R. Wards brotherhood series were fabulous. Kept me awake at night.”Megan S. Johnston wrote this review Wednesday, May 30, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Loved it!! J. R. Ward is so awesome. She is definitely one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more. She knows just how to get you really invested in a story! Although there was a couple of things that happened in this book that I didn't really like, I still really enjoyed it. ”*Lena* wrote this review Friday, May 4, 2012. “Envy started where Lover Unleashed left off, with Veck standing over a bloody body. He is not sure if he attacked the man or not. Veck believes that as a son of a serial killer, he has to bear the sins of his father and eventually he will walk in his shoes. That is where Jim Heron and his angelic back-up come in to play. They have to save Veck's soul in order to be ahead of Devina in order for good to triumph over evil. With the help of Sophia Reilly, they can tip the scales in favor of good this time. Where Veck has darkness, Reilly is his light that will help him see that he is not all bad.
This is one of my favorite series. It has a good message with the constant fight of Good vs Evil, and how we want Good to win. With every book The Warden writes, she puts her own twist on it and makes it an entertaining story.
Jim is one that I think surprises the other Angels. He has be come stronger that I think anyone had anticipated. In the previous 2 books you knew that Jim was the leader but it always felt like maybe Eddie was more of a leader. In this one though, Jim has taken the lead, even if it may cause a riff between the guys. He also tends to hang around Devina a lot. Even though he states he doesn't want to be near her, I think maybe a part of him actually does.
I really did enjoy this book. It had some hot scenes in it and a WTF moment. It is one where you say "Why?". Overall it was great though. If you love her Black Dagger Brotherhood series you should love this one. ”
“Another great book by J. R. Ward. I hope there are more in this series. I want Jim to kick Devina's ASS.
“Jim Heron gets a new case!!! Devina has had her sights on Veck since before he was born, and now Jim has to somehow take the evil out of him. Veck is a cop, with a dark past. Sophia Reily his new partner trys to help him see he doesn't have to be whats calling to him, and he falls in love with her more and more each day. This is a delicate case, but as always Jims up for the callenge, not that he has a choice, and he just may solve Sissy's case. ”G wrote this review Monday, March 12, 2012. “Ward’s best entry yet in her Fallen Angels series. If you loved the Black Dagger Brotherhood books (and if you haven’t read those, you must!), you need to read this series too. The first two books were a bit uneven, but Ward really ups the ante in this one, and I found myself tearing up several times. Can’t wait for the next one.
