  • Fort Benning, Georgia: Conrad Simmons, one of the main characters in the novel, teaches at the Ranger School at Fort Benning, before transferring to Washington, DC
  • Tehran, Iran: Omar and Hassan, two friends in the story, live in Tehran with an acquaintance named Abdul.
