• Faith Kallahan: When Faith's father passed away, she and her sisters needed to find a way to support themselves. At first they went to live with their Aunt Thalia, but Thalia is an old woman with limited means. The sisters would marry, but there is a shortage of eligible men in their home town of Cold Water, Michigan. So they all answer ads for mail order brides. Faith goes to Deliverance, Texas, to marry wealthy rancher Nicholas Shepherd.
