- Dark gift: a gift or "super power" found in children who grow up under water for a long period of time. Scientists believe it is from the water presurre.
- Dark Life: A nasty term used by Topsiders in an attempt to insult the colonists living sub sea. A term derived from the fact that these people assumedly live in the dark
