- Madeline "Maddy" Black: Agent of death, the main character of the book.
- Gabriel Angeloscuro: Maddy's bodyguard. Half angel. Azazel's thrall. Ramuel's son. Lucifer's grandson. He is in love with Maddy.
- Nathaniel: Maddy's fiance. He never refers to Gabriel by name. Totally unlikable in every way.
- Beezle: Maddy's gargoyle and best friend
- Samiel: Ariell (angel) and Ramuel's (nephilim) child. Gabriel's half brother
- Azazel: Maddy's father. Fallen angel. Chief of the Grigori. Right hand man of Lucifer.
- J.B.: Real name: Jacob Benjamin Bennett. Amarantha's son. Agent of Death. He was Maddy's boss but now he is a supervisor in the Agency. He asked Maddy out after he was removed from the position of her boss.
- Antares: Maddy's half-brother. Azazel's son.
- Baraquiel: He is an Angel. Lucifer's personal messenger.
- Evangeline: Maddy's many greats grandmother. She was Lucifer's consort.
- Amarantha: Queen of the local faerie court.
- Jude: Werewolf.
- Dagan: Werewolf. First to be murdered.
- Tyrone Jackson Wade: Called Wade. Alpha Werewolf of the Red Pack of Wisconsin. StarCraft fan.
- James: Werewolf. Hates Maddy for some reason.
