• Mara Dyer: Main protagonist. Mara goes into a coma after an accident and wakes up in hospital, unsure of what happened to her. She begins to understand as the story progresses.
• Noah Shaw: English boy at Mara's new school. Has a certain infamous popularity. Snarky, rude and entertaining. Blue eyes. Rumored man-whore. He has a real soft spot for Mara.
• Rachel Watson: Mara's best friend since kindergarten.
