I read this a long time ago and remember being touched very deeply by it. It was an inspirational tear-jerker and very haunting.

    A sad but beautiful story.

This book was refreshingly honest about a young man's struggle with cancer.

I read this in 4th grade, and I believe this is the very first book I ever read. It's at least the first book I remember reading. I haven't read it since, so I'm reviewing it through the eyes of an adult looking back to early childhood. It was such a sad sad read and I remember it affected me deeply as a child. And I knew it was a true story so that made it even more significant. I may read this again as an adult.

When I was a kid I hated to read, but then this book was put into my hands. I don't know how, but it was. I have even recommended this book to my children. I plan to read this book again!

Such a touching story. It is amazing to read about Eric's many treatments, and then remember that this story is true. It is also amazing that Doris managed to remember everything that happened, but I suppose that one never forgets something that big and important. Because Doris expressed her experiences into a book, Eric lives on in every reader.

Good story to show that the diagnosis of a disease doesn't have to be the end of the world. I read it somewhere around middle/high school and agree that it is a hard to forget book.

True story. It will have you crying, it made me cry anyway. Makes you realize how precious every day is. I read this in high school and have never forgotten it.
