“It is the second book of vikram chandra that I tried reading...and i like it. however there were times i felt that it should move and get on with the story..900 pages is not a joke..i like the main character played by the Sardar police...there is a very human touch to him which we miss in most police official these days...overall a good read”
“I agree with aditya J.....this book is full of earthy profanities which might be "too much" for the public school bred "junta"...but it is also hard core India...This is one book whose narrative is so smoothly interwoven with characters from different eras that you feel sad when it ends. When the bok ends, you get a feeling that probably there is another incident waiting to happen. Very well written and recommended for anyone who is a hardcore "bookie"(pun totally intended:))”
“One of the truly horrible books that I ever read..full of profanities ..a crash course in hindi invectives..U name the vice and will get it here...A pulp fiction of the worst kind... pandering to the baser nature of human..an unpalatable blend of bollywood potboiler..desi lit.. x rated book..A very very misleading book abt India”
“A very fast paced novel.. almost like a Bollywood potboiler..”
“I was just about to say that I felt it took too much effort to read this - and I am not one daunted by dense, multi-layered books. But after having read many of your comments, I think I will try again. Maybe I just need to be in the right frame of mind. I hate the idea of a masterpiece languishing on my shelf and I am too lazy to expend the energy required to experience it. I am glad I read the comments of others before "writing it off" and reselling it on amazon. ”
