Wow!

Somehow I never read this book growing up. I am on a Newbery Medal kick and kept putting this on the To Read list.

We used this as a real aloud the past week or two. The language in the book is excellent! This is good literature.

I am not certain my students...

Title: Sounder (By William H. Armstrong)

Did you read the entire book? Yes

What worked for you? I liked that the boy in the story never gave up hope. He was always hopeful that Sounder would one day return home even after being shot and wounded and that his father would come...

This book was TOO depressing and dreary for me! There was clearly no hope of a happy ending, and I just couldn't get into it. I've heard of this story practically my whole life, and I knew it would be one of those depressing dog stories where the dog dies, but this one was worse than I expected. Had a hard time focusing. Seems like kids used to be easier to entertain than they are today.

The book that I finished is called Sounder by Willam H. Armstrong.I think I would have to say that this book is interesting. In this book a boy gets two coon hounds in order to feed his family with the small kill that the dogs kill. Throughout the book it goes on about everything that the dogs killed and things like this. I thoght that as the book went on it was a very emotional book with strong feelings. This book has pages in it.

Sounder is an extremely interesting book. The author uses lots of figurativve language. I like how he writes the story and used great imagery so we can get a good picture in our minds.
