- Braden Arness: Hot hunk of man!! Lion breed with long blond hair, gold eyes and muscles that won't quit. He is the perfect mate for Megan because she is a smart, strong-willed woman who need someone to bring her out of her shell to really live the life she wants to. He is also an assassin for the Breed Council.
- Megan Fields: Megan is an Empath. She can feel the feelings of others as they're happening as well as long after they've left an impression on a place. She does not know how to shield herself from the barrage of emotions, so she works out in the desert as a deputy where she grew up instead of going for the exciting jobs she really wants like working for he Breed Council.
- Jonas Wyatt: Head of Breed Affairs. A lion breed. Very calculating and manipulative. Does not let his enforcers or anyone know the whole truth of his plans or actions.
- Aimee: Mate to Mark. Was horribly abused in the breed labs. Infiltrated Senator Cooley's security team.
- Mark: Mate to Aimee. Met Aimee in the labs, tried to protect her. Infiltrated Senator Cooley's security team.
- Cooley: A Senator and a friend of Megan's father whom she has known as a kind man for a very long time. Turns out to be not so nice and one of the main characters involved of the mistreatment of the breeds in the labs.
- Tarek Jordan: Breed Enforcer.
- Lance Jacobs: Sheriff in a small desert town. Is friendly to and works with breeds, but is not one himself.
