Pandora`s Box Revisited: Ellery Roulet, a 35-year-old African-American public relations executive living and working in Paris has the perfect life. She is married to a handsome Frenchman, has adorable, twin daughters and a successful bilingual PR firm located in one of Paris’ trendiest arrondissements. Unfortunately, in the form of letters, Ellery soon realizes that life isn’t always perfect. Ellery’s world is turned upside down and she quickly learns that handling life’s most difficult situations is not always so easy.

A Brief Indiscretion: If you had a second chance to recapture love with an old flame, would you take the risk – even while still married to another man? That is the dilemma that Ellery Roulet encounters when the man who broke her heart 15 years ago, comes to visit her in Paris.

Until It`s Gone: Some love affairs are destined to last forever while others are not. That is the painful lesson that Ellery Roulet learns when she must decide to leave or stay in a marriage gone sour.

Some Birds of a Feather: Ellery Roulet never believed in re-incarnation. Her mind would be changed upon encountering them while vacationing in the French Alps. After interacting with two pigeons found sitting on her kitchen window sill, Ellery learns some valuable lesions about love, loss and the afterlife.

PRAISE FOR
Encounters of Paris A Collection of Short Stories

"Paris seems like the most romantic thing in the world, until you live there. "Encounters in Paris" is a collection of short stories from Carolyn Moncel and her protagonist Ellery Roulet, a nearing middle age woman working in Paris and finding out while there is love, there is also everything you hate about love. A fun read that blends plenty of romance, "Encounters in Paris" is quite the pick, recommended."

Quotes edit see section history

  • “Divorce was also a funny thing–it was contagious like polio. Sometimes, it was mysterious how and why it happened; it could strike at anytime; and when people saw it coming, they kept a close eye on loved ones, never allowing them to venture too far away from home.”
  • “Look, my husband...he’s a jerk right now, but he’s still the jerk in my life,” she stated firmly, without shame.”
