- Charlie Madigan: uber heroine of the series, caring, and deepening into her growing power. Full of as yet untapped potential.
- Hank: Charlie's partner, a siren, with a growing sense of caring and humanity. Someone about whom the reader wants to know more and more.
- Bryn: Charlie's sister, an Earth Mage who became addicted to the off world drug ash and who is in grave danger in volume three of the series. When fully empowered she is an Earth Mage growing in her power.
- Emma: Charlie's daughter, beginning to come into her power as a mage. She's can be quite mischievous, at times, inquisitive sometimes to a fault and a very important character in Charlie's life.
- Rex: The former jinn warrior, now Revenant who possesses the body of Charlie's husband. Her husband's spirit is within the body but very week due to his own indulgence in the black arts and his use of ash. Rex is an important ally and protector to Emma.
- Brim: A hellhound. Technically illegal to be possessed by anyone on Earth, Charlie has special permission to keep him. He, too, is very attached to Emma, and is one very loving pet and one very dangerous enemy to anyone who threatens Charlie's family/loved ones.
