“Reminded me of "Soulless" (dry humor, steampunk, mystery) without the supernatural aspect or the hot romance. There was a little bit of flirtation between the new partners but I think had there been even a small romance element, I would have liked it more. It felt like something my brother would enjoy - very Indiana Jones, lots of references to ladies assets, and even a gratuitous glimpse of a female orgy. Seriously. After I finished, I wondered if the author was male - I was half right. My favorite part of the book had to be our hero "Welly". He played the part of up-tight intellectual to our brass, ass-kicking heroine. But only the reader realizes that when forced, he is capable of being just as bad-ass as our heroine. Too bad the heroine didn't get to see that - she probably wouldn't have been able to control herself when faced with all that smart sexiness and I would have had my romance element after all.”
