• Breed: Vampires descended from 8 alien humanoids who crash landed on earth thousands of years ago.
• Breedmate: Women who are born with unique DNA and blood properties that make them capable of sharing a life bond with members of the Breed and bearing their young. They can be identified by a scarlet teardrop falling into the cradle of a crescent moon shaped birthmark somewhere on their body. Every Breedmate has some kind of unique ESP talent or ability and personal blood scent that makes her unique from any other.
• Dermaglyphs: A running pattern of symbols--arcing flourishes and complex geometric shapes that somewhat resemble tribal tattoos that cover a Breed's body; the stronger the bloodline the more glyphs there are- the Ancients were covered from head to toe.
• Minion: Humans bled to within an inch of their lives, they then serve their "Master" in whatever capacity is required; Obedient to their dying breath
• Crimson: A drug that induces Bloodlust in vampires and makes them turn Rogue
• Darkhaven: An estate where several Breed families live together in a community
