The Giver is a book about a utopian society in which a boy named Jonas, a Twelve, finds sound interesting things about just how utopian his community. At the Ceremony of Twelves everyone is assigned an assignment. Oddly enough, he's skipped, but at the end of the ceremony, it's revealed that he is selected for the position of Reciever of Memories. Then he gets training from a man called Giver, and Jonas learns what life really is about. I would recommend this book to anyone, it's by far the best book about a utopian society. I read it because it was a class project, and the genre is fiction because utopian societies usually (especially this one) don't exist.
