    • Given his lifetime assignment at the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas becomes the receiver of memories shared by only one other in his community, The Giver. He learns through the memories the terrible truth about the world he lives in and it shows what can happen when government tries to control everything in society. This is my favorite book and is one of three.four. The next book is called Gathering Blue and the lastthird book is The Messenger.Messenger. The final book, which Lowry did not at first intend to write, is called Son.
