George Orwell is probably the best writer of all time, similar to Hemmingway in his sparseness but some how more effective this is the best piece of autobiographical writing I have ever had the pleasure to read.

Great book from a great writer. To answer a previous question, Catalonia is one of three autonomous regions in Spain (the others are Galicia and El PaĆs Vasco). The reason the book is titled "Homage to Catalonia" is because that is where most of the anti-fascist forces were located and where much of the fighting was done.
Orwell, does an excellent job of laying bare the various factions involved in the Spanish Civil War and his own genuine experience dealing with those factions is fascinating.
If you're interested in the Spanish Civil War or in Anarchism then you should come by and check out the "Anarchism in the Library" group.

    Hey!!

The title to the book is a homage to CATALONIA, I thought Catalonia had something to do with the book, or is it only the SPANISH Civil War?
