The Goddess Test is the first in a YA trilogy. It's an easy, quick read based on the Greek myth of Persephone and Hades. I enjoyed it most of the time but at other times it frustrated me. What I did like was Aimee Carter's personal twist on the tale but I wish that another Greek myth could be retold as this has already been done with Everneath. The main character, Kate, is a likeable girl however she was just too nice, especially to Ava. Ava is the typical high school queen bee who treats Kate badly yet Kate is still friendly with her. I don't understand their relationship as Kate is human, not a saint. The other bug bear for me was not knowing the 7 tests until the end. The story is supposed to be about passing these aspects but they are barely mentioned. When they are mentioned it ties the story nicely together as do the other secrets that are revealed. But it was a little to late for me.

It's always been just Kate and her mom--and now her mother is dying. Then she meets Henry. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

This book is the best book I have read in the past 6 months. There is a very little amount of slow/boring sections. It is about a girl whose mother is dying of cancer and this man named Henry. Henry is a special person, he rules something. I would say it but it gives too much away. I would recomend this book to anybody who likes action, romance and a sprinkle of secrets and drama

I have been reading the book for months now, and I kept slogging through it one chapter at a time. Finally, I just skimmed the last 70 pages because I couldn't focus anymore. I liked Kate at first, but the plot is so unbelievable that it bordered on ridiculous for me. And the ending was quite predictable. I don't know a lot about Greek mythology, but this only confused me even more. Will not read more of this series.

This book was incredible, I loved everything about it. The characters are believable and the storyline is exciting and unpredictable. I can't wait to read the second book!
