While Martin's saga has been compared to the Lord of the Rings, I'm not quite sure it deserves it. It reads like a TV show which makes sense because it has become a popular HBO series and because it betrays the author's own roots. There is political intrigue, drama, wolves, a few dragons and lots and lots of violence. Great book for a commute.”

“I've only read book one so far. This series is going to have to grow on me. I'm not an immediate fan. Too many names to keep up with, and the author presumes you know all the characters intimately. The jury is out for me, but I'll update my comments as I finish reading the next three books.”
