“The reviewer from the Seattle Times described this book as ‘a delightful divertissement’ and I’d have to agree. It’s my first encounter with Peter Mayle, one that’s proven to be a frothy, light, enjoyable read but not something that will remain with you. In other words, it’s summer reading. ”

“An easy, quick read. A book without any vulgarities and only focusing on provincial life and wine, set within an entertaining conspiracy de vin.”

I read somewhere that Mayle was asked to write a book-to-movie - that might explain the shallow fluffiness. It's harmless, a quick read, but stereotypical and transparent.”
