Leslie Arfin is a genius. Her voice is so strong in this novel, you feel like you know her five pages in. I struggled between respecting her strong will and feeling repulsed by her drug habit throughout the novel, but I always wanted her to succeed in the end. I love how she actually called up...

I struggled between respecting her strong will and feeling repulsed by her drug habit throughout the novel, but I always wanted her to succeed in the end. I love how she actually called up people from highschool and interviewed them; the reactions were so raw. You can't make this stuff up. 5 stars.

My crazy partner was reading this and, for obvious reasons, it caught my eye. I asked her to let me read it when she was done. I am so glad I did. It was a great book.... I read it fast, and had some laughs. But it was very thought-provoking and gave me insight into drug abuse. It's not a "Go Ask Alice" type book... but it was interesting.

I thought this was a pretty good book. Not the best, but really real and easy to relate to for someone in their mid-to late twenties. It was like a look into the time as well as the everyday problems we all go through and the crazy stories you hear about friends or what happen to who over the years. I love the timelines on the inside of the front and back cover.

I think that maybe for a book like this to work, the author has to be, you know, likeable. Lesley Arfin definitely is not. It's not only the pre-teen, teen, and junkie Lesley Arfin of the diary entries that I found mean, but the 27-year-old Lesley Arfin who interviews her former friends, "frienemies", and family and offers adult/sober insight on her former self. I kept thinking to myself, "yeah, I'd probably write Barfin Arfin on a bathroom stall too." And that's a terrible thing to think; I'm really a nice girl--I swear!

I liked this book a lot! I read it super quickly because it was just so interesting. I'm happy for the author, as she is better now.

Typically VICE-ish mixture of candid voice, titillating details, and shock entertainment. The most interesting part was her interviews with former friends, enemies, lovers, etc. from her past.

This book is awesome because it's written by someone around my age and I love the references to the Smashing Pumpkins and Exclamation perfume. haha
