Characters edit see section history

  • Corrie Swanson: Corrie is back and feisty. She is a student in New York majoring in Criminology. She promised A. Pendergast not to get involved, but just like "Still Life with Crows" she gets in too deep. There is more of her yet to come in this book. I think she is an excellent character and a lot more interesting than Constance.
  • Judson Esterhazy: Judson is the brother of Pendergast's late wife.
  • Ned Betterton: A new reporter on the scene, but he doesn't quite make it as a replacement for William Smith.
