But like Burroughs and Ellis, I gotta applaud Cooper for his guts. Cooper says: hey, who says I can't write about snuffing backstreet boy characters and castrating whores on the street, and spreading aids infection purposefully. Can't say this isn't Cooper's best, but I'm disturbed at the id of the author. I mean there's having a gay theme, and then there's having a gay on-line chat with creepy fetishists theme and frankly I'm frightened. On the other hand, though he profits from thrash-punk shock value, it's his uniquely clever narrative style that gets him through. Was surprised to see he was HUGE in the UK but then I figure he is infinitely more intelligent than Palahniuk, infinitely more disturbing than thrash metal, and when it's all over with, I'd hate to see Cooper set down his pen. I do not recommend this for anyone who doesn't hang out with my friend Bryan.”

Everything from the concept of an online-reality to the terrifying twists in one's desperate search for acceptance keep pouring out like water in this work.
If you haven't read Cooper before, get ready, no one writes like Cooper.”
“This book has a real murder mystery depth feel it, twists and turns like the 24 television programme. Such a description wouldn’t be the first thing one would normally associate with Dennis Cooper, but the subject matter that the intrigue is centred on will be familiar to his readers: hustlers, predators and snuff films. Through the medium of the internet chatrooms and web forums that make up the structure of this novel the reader tries to find a sense of narrative out of the anonymous bragging, embellishment, confessions, lying and trolling that many who have visited some of the more exciting web forums will be familiar with. The reader joins in on the eeking out of a truth from this world of sexdeathsupersports. ”
