This is an extremely well researched and written historical novel. The author does a fantastic job of plucking us out of our armchairs and anchoring us firmly in the 18th century. Her descriptions are spot-on. I saw and felt everything that Patricia did, whether it was her hesitation with a love interest, a storm on board the ship, or her work with those unfortunate enough to contract yellow fever.
