“I read the book of Job which is a compilation of event written by Job about his tumultuous life. I was interested to read this because I have been meaning to for such a long while, but I became very much interested in reading it after seeing it on a list of influential literary works. I was surprised by this because although I know it was very important in the religious world, I had not thought that it was so important in the world of literature. Another reason why I wanted to read it was because I have always heard of the expression “the patience of Job,” and of course I knew the overall story about Job, but I certainly did not know the extent of suffering he went through with all of his friends bashing him for paragraphs at a time, and even his own wife thinking he had sinned terribly. It really got me angry after awhile with how awful his life was and how he kept wishing to die, but, of course, there was a greater moral to the very saddening story. This is certainly not something you would want to read if feeling a little depressed one day, this is not the pick-me-up story in any way, shape, or form. After reading it in the King James Version, I found that there are many authors such as Stephen Mitchell who have translated it into modern English, but I myself much prefer the old standard. It took me a few days to read this. ”
