Sorry to say, but I was a bit disappointed by this book. I think all the hype about it and the semi-autobiographical nature of the story was like a wet blanket on the story. This is actually one of those situations where I found the movie better than the book.

"MMMM MMMMM MMMM You go girl!"... is all that I could say when I read this book... A great story of an independant woman living her life for herself, on her own terms. I was thoroughly and horribly disappointed to watch the movie. The book really potrayed her emotional journey, but the movie certainly tried to commercialize by emphasizing the spicy zing of the love affair she had... But that was not the real message... I hated the movie but loved the book!!!

This book was breezy, chick lit and needed tighter editing. While some people buzzed about the idea of an older woman with a younger man - I knew/know several women in that situation.
Since Terri lifted it from her own life choices - I would say to her what I've said to other women - everybody you play with you don't bring home. So many women mistake "mind blowing sex" for love and friendship. Sometimes you can get both but not always.

Very good book...but I guess Terry McMillian wishes she would have left her 'Groove' where she found it.
