Scientist makes evil sentient computer. Computer uses robots and other networked machines to kill or enslave most humans. Humans regroup and with help of friendly robots and cyborgs kill evil computer.

  • Comac Wallace: Member of Brightboy Squad and later Grey Horse Army. Having discovered the "Black Box" or "Hero Box" of the New War, Cormac Wallace uses it to write down the stories of the war, and is the narrator of the story.
  • Mr. Takeo Nomura: Robot Specialist.
  • Mathilda Perez: A twelve year old girl who becomes a key player during the war.
  • Jack Wallace: Jack is the brother of the narrator, Cormac and in some ways, his antithesis. He was a jock in school and joined the military. He is the model hero that Cormac ultimately becomes and the catalyst for Cormac's transformation.
  • Lurker: A hacker who finds out more then he should.
  • Laura Perez: US Congresswoman, Writer of the Robot Defense Act, and Mother of Matilda and Nolan
  • Archos or "Rob" or "Big Rob": Robotic Intelligence that takes control of all robotic and electronic entities on earth, and initiates the New War against the Human Race. The nickname "Rob" was given to the robot race after their takeover. Used frequently by Cormac Wallace.
  • Nine Oh Two: Humanoid Arbiter Robot
  • Mikiko: Robot "wife" of Mr. Takeo Nomura
  • Lonnie Wayne Blanton: Police officer in Oklahoma, father to Spc. Paul Blanton.
  • Spc. Paul Blanton: Son of Lonnie Wayne Blanton, serving in the American Army in Afghanistan. Cultural Liaison, or "Robot Wrangler", responsible for the SAP (Saftety and Pacification) Robots in the army.
  • Lark Iron Cloud: Young Cherokee man, leader of Grey Horse Army.
  • Hank Cotton: Member of the Osage nation at Grey Horse.
  • Tiberius Abdullah: Member of Brightboy Squad. Former taxi driver in NYC.
  • Cherrah: Member of Brightboy Squad and Grey Horse Army.
  • Leonardo: Member of Brightboy Squad and later Grey Horse Army.
  • Carl: Member of Brightboy Squad and later Grey Horse Army. Carl is a soldier that joins Cormac and his brother after they are forcibly turned away from the fort at which he was stationed.
  • Houdini: Add a description of this character.
  • Arrtrad: Middle aged, living in Britain. Lurker's go-to, submissive lackey.
  • Dwight Bowie: Lead Roughneck on the drill a Alaska
  • John Tenkiller: Osage elder and Drumkeeper
  • Marcus Johnson: Lives in NYC with wife Dawn. Knowledgeable in demolitions and construction.
  • Dawn Johnson: Lives in NYC with husband Marcus.
  • Tom: A "transhuman" rescued in NYC by Marcus Johnson. One hand has been replaced by a large set of shears.
  • Lucy Bowie: Dwight Bowie's wife, to whom he is recording a message home while drilling in Alaska.
  • Nolan: The younger brother of Mathilda, and son of Laura
  • Grampa: Laura Perez's father. Mathilda's grandfather.
