- Remy King: This is the main character of the book. She is traveling the world after it has been taken over by a disease that turns human to zombies. She is strong willed and a fighter. She is very BADASS and Persistant for her little brother.
- Max King: Remy's little brother and only surviving family member. He is wide and quirky, and loves his sister a lot.
- Lazlo Durante: Former rock star in his band called Emeriso. He is kind and caring, doesn't really know how to defend himself. Remy usually comes to his rescue.
- Ripley: A lioness that Remy and Harlow come across. Remy brings Ripley along.
- Vega: A girl that lives in the house with the other girls that "belong" to Korech's cult. She usually speaks in bible verses.
- Pvt. Tatum: An attractive solider in the quarantine. He rescues Remy when she is fighting off zombies outside of the quarantine.
- Blue Adams: He was doing his residency when the virus went viral. He travels with Lazlo, and runs into Remy and Harloe in an abandoned house.
- Lia: One of the Korech's "girls". She is very kind and adorable.
- Korech: A cult leader.
- Sam: Lives with London and Hope at the compound.
- Hope: Lives in the compound with Sam and London.
- Private Beck: A soldier at the school quarantine. Taught Remy to fight the zombies.
- London: The leader in the compound with Sam and Hope.
- Sara Bishop (aka Bishop): Runs the day to day activities at the quarantine in the north.
- Harlow: A kind thirteen year old girl who is a great companion to Remy.
