Description edit see section history

A book that started out as a spoof of the typical Southern novel, but ended up actually funny in its own way, and not the cliche way, and not a spoof, but a comedy that works in a fresh way. It takes place in the North Carolina mountains, and once had, as its title, The Longest Mobile Home in... read more

Characters/People edit see section history

  • Jimral Isenhour: First name a combination of Jim and General---mother wanted Jim, father, fought in WWII, wanted General--their last name Isenhour, anyway. An innocent mess, kind of a combination of Inspector Clouseau and Barney Fife. Loves his family, lives way back in the mountains, extremely gullible, to say the least.
  • Eli: Jimral's son. Kind of takes care of his father, who he sees as almost simple-minded, but lots of fun to do things with, if you don't mind getting your fingers mashed and things blowing up in your face while helping him. Keeps a journal of his father's best-worst word mispronunciations: Psycryajist....Anatheegeologist.
  • Ida and Brady: A typical redneck couple from Southern fiction.

  • “1. "You're going to haul that tiller in your wife's car?" "She dudn't mind. And we sure can use this. Thank you, Mrs. Ma'am, I'll have it gone in a few minutes." He addressed her that way because he had forgotten her name.2. "Jimral specialized in some of the worst ideas anyone had ever heard of. Take Thomas Edison's number of ideas, rearrange them so they make no sense, give them to Inspector Clouseau, put them in Barney Fife's body, add in phobias of rabbits and turtles, and play the theme music from The Real McCoys in the background everywhere Jimral went, and you pretty much have him figured out..."”
