“It was very amusing because this group of friends liked different things, like Star Trek and Star Wars, and they would hurl insults at each other from SW and ST. I'm not kidding- it was funny.”

We all know how important the issue of bullying is in schools and I have really been looking for a book I could use with students to help them develop understanding and empathy for others. While I enjoyed the book and the quirky, dorky characters, it was a bit of a caricature of "nerds." Everything about these kids was way over the top, from being obsessed with Star Wars, Star Trek or Batman to speaking Klingon to girls. I just don't think that most kids will really relate to the main group in this story. I am still looking for something where fairly normal, every day kids will be able to see themselves. ”
