• Delaware "Delly" Pattison: Delly always gets into trouble, she doesn't mean too, but it happens anyway. Eventually she is told she has to change or there will be more trouble than she has ever been in. When she meets Ferris Boyd, she thinks things might just change. She also makes up words like hideawaysis, dellyventure, holiDelly, and a Nocussictionary.
• Ferris Boyd: Ferris Boyd is a odd girl. Not crazy, just with a few rules. No touching, no loud noises, and she doesn't talk. She has a way with animals, and she changes a few people's lives.
• Clarice Pattison: Delly's Mom, reason to try and stop getting in troble.
• Officer Tibbetts: Officer Tibetts doesn't like Delly one bit. She knows that Delly is trouble, and seems to always think she is. Verna Tibbetts isn't surprised whenever she gets a call conserning Delly.
• Danny Novello: Danny is good at a lot of things (school, sports, etc.) his only problem, is his mouth. He is always mean to others, especailly Delly. The only reason he is mean to her the most (other than the fact that she isn't afraid of him) is because he loves her. He once even tried to kiss her.
• Lionel Terwilliger: Delly's teacher, who always helps her when she gets in trouble.
• Ms. Niederbaum: An employee at Delly's school.
• Ms. Mcdougal: The principal at Delly's school.
• Ms. Gerwitz: Vice Principal.
• Brud Kinney: A friend of Ferris's, and later, a friend of Delly. He has a bit of a stuttering problem, one reason why Ferris befriends him in the first place.
• Clayton Fitch: A man in Delly's town who does not like her; He is usually the one who tattles on Delly.
• Mabel Silcox: A neighbor Delly takes brownies from as her "surpresent".
