“Rowan Tripp is a smoke jumper who is recovering from the loss of her partner in the previous years fire season. Gulliver Curry is a rookie jumper in her unit (team?). Rowan doesn't usually get involved with team members but Gull doesn't take no for an answer. Pretty soon the team is involved in fires, both personal and professional. They start being plagued with bad luck and faulty equipment that puts all their lives in danger. There's murder, there's grief, there's life and humor. There's scorching hot sex (pun intended). All trademark Nora, in my opinion. Really, the book was fairly predictable but it was a darn good thrilling read all the same. As usual, I'd like to see maybe some spin off stories involving some of the other characters (tell me there's not a story for Dobie somewhere!). Fun read, took me longer than I thought it would but it was totally enjoyable all the way around!
