Euclid Avenue Our scars mean something is the 1st in a series of 3 true life novels that take place in a small city in the midwest. it begins with the discovery, at age 4 of his little brother's lifeless body floating face down in the bathtub. the subsequent childhood years are filled with parental neglect, deceit, theft and manipulation. full time employment began at age 12.
the teenage years are characterized by experimentation to habits to addictions which culminate in a wager that results in a loveless marriage that ends in divorce and nearly in death.
late in 2010, the chapter entitled Water, which depicts the drowning incident, became the focus of a cold case homicide investigation. 2011 is the 50th anniversary of the event.

  • the boy: Euclid Avenue takes the reader through the 1st 24 years as the tormented boy becomes a tortured youth left completely to his own devices. he becomes an adult shackled by a destructive childhood and a laundry list of poor decisions.
  • the mother: she is a cunning, intelligent and manipulative individual. she is someone who looks at every circumstance as an opportunity to further her own corrupt agenda. that includes using her own children to cover up her mistakes and as child slaves in order to bring additional money into the household.
  • the father: he is a trapped and spineless individual who always finds himself on the receiving end of his wife's(the mother) schemes. he thrusts himself into his job, working 12 to 16 hours a day, thereby alienating and crippling the couples 12 children.
  • the uncle: he is a good man, scarcely older than the boy, who has also suffered at the hand of his sister(the mother) as the boy is his 1st nephew, he takes him under his wing and schools him in the ways of the world, occasionally to the boy's detriment, but ensures his survival.
