Compared to her books, this non-fiction version of the tales of Henry VIII started out very dry. “One of my favorite historical characters is Henry. The tragedy of his married life is humanized in this book, and his wives emerge as very distinct individuals.”

Like most of Alison Weir's nonfiction, this reads like a novel and I sympathised and loved each and every one of them. This book makes me curious to learn more about the two little known wives of Henry VIII, his third, Jane Seymour, and his fourth, Anne of Cleves. ”

Weir delivers a well rounded depiction of them all and on their relationship with Henry VIII. All though quite a long book I hardly noticed as I was enjoying it so much. I will def read more of Weir's books in the future. ”
