“This was a crazy ride! At first I didn't know what was going on, what Allison had done that was so terrible. So I flew through the pages dying to know. In those pages I felt like I got to know Allison well enough that I couldn't imagine she had truly done something horrible. I couldn't...”see full review » see other reviews »

“The book started out as an excellent mystery. There was just enough information to make me want to keep reading to find out what happened without being frustrating. But this landed up being a lame storyline that was easily predictable once you realize the author is writing a lame soap opera...”see full review » see other reviews »

“This book was honestly one of the saddest books I've ever read. It was really heartbreaking. But out of all that heartbreak and all that sadness, you can still find hope and that was a huge thing that stuck out at me as I read this book. I did think that the ending was the worst. It was really sad and overall just kinda weird. The book was also weirdly disturbing. I thought it was kinda creepy. But overall, I really did like it and I'm planning on reading other books by this author.”Kelsey wrote this review Sunday, September 29, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Young girl tries to start her life over after she is released from prison for killing her baby shortly after death.
But... those that serve the time aren't always to blame.”
“Allison Glenn tried to hide what happened that night...and failed. The consequence? Five years in prison. Now she's free. But secrets have a way of keeping you caged...When Allison is sent to prison for a heinous crime, she leaves behind her reputation as Linden Falls' golden girl forever. Her parents deny the existence of their once-perfect child. Her former friends exult in her downfall. Her sister, Brynn, faces the whispered rumours every day in the hallways of their small Iowa high school. It's Brynn - shy, quiet Brynn - who carries the burden of what really happened that night. All she wants is to forget Allison and the past that haunts her. But then Allison is released, and is more determined than ever to speak with her sister. Now their legacy of secrets is focused on one little boy. And if the truth is revealed, the consequences will be unimaginable for the adoptive mother who loves him, the girl who tried to protect him and the two sisters who hold the key to all that is hidden.
“I won't say that this was a horrible read, but it wasn't something I would rave over or even recommend as there are much more worthy reads out there.
A story told between four women, all centered around a young boy. One of the main, first person POV characters, Allison, was extremely unlikeable. Golden, perfect, the chosen one. She seemingly cared little or nothing of anyone through the whole book, even her own children. The last minute twist did little to redeem her. I thought that all of the characters were pretty ordinary and run-of-the-mill and had a hard time liking or sympathizing with them. All the way through I was hoping for just one to root for.
Although I think the author's style was enjoyable, the story left me unimpressed.”
“I had to wait a day to review this book so it could all sink in. I wasn't sure I was going to like the book because the way the story is told, each chapter is told in one of the 4 main characters voice and it flips back and forth. But after the second chapter I was hooked!
The story is about 4 women/girls who all have one thing in common, a little boy named Joshua, and how all of their lives were changed by one single event.
Just when you think you know the whole story, the author throws another twist in the story. I have to admit some of the subject matter was sometimes hard to swallow but at certain points in the story I felt for each of these women. Overall it was a great read.”
