The Dead is set one year before the events in its predecessor, The Enemy. The deadly disease only just broke out in London, leaving Jack, Ed, Bam, and their other schoolmates trapped in their boarding school. At first, they had a few teachers on their side to help defend against the adults that had already turned, but they too became sick not long after the disease first reared its ugly head. Now with the school swarming with rotting, fevered, child-hungry zombie teachers, it is only a matter of time before the kids are overrun. Realizing the danger the diseased teachers present, the boys escape the school to find London the scene of what seems like a disaster movie—except it’s not a movie. Picking up other kids on the way, the schoolboys battle their way through the ruined city, hoping to find shelter and a new place to live. The zombies aren’t the only threat, though; fires rage everywhere, filling the air with black, noxious smoke and driving the zombies towards them and away from the flames. It isn’t long before the kids realize that nowhere is safe.
