Find out how we screwed up the world for centuries to come in this detailed and magnificent opus. Yes, I believe the carving up of the defeated countries as if they were Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas hams set the stage for much of the unrest and violence we still deal with today. The author does try to take a more objective and less accusatory tone, implying the three main powers did the best they could at the time. However, there is more than one book on this topic and all I've read...

    I'm only about 1/3 through this - it's serious history. I am struck by how much of the groundwork for the conflicts of the 20th and 21st century were laid in this conference.
