The book tries to “acquit” God of “causing” the tragedies in this world by putting the blame on “human freedom.” However, instead of using God’s Word to support the claim, other men’s words are used.

If you sometimes feel like holding onto your faith seems impossible at times because the world just doesn't seem to show God's presence. If you feel that you are losing your hold on what you believe, this is a great book to read. It reaffirms your faith, not by chastisting you for your unbelief, but by showing you that you are not alone in your doubts. That other, even notable Christians, have struggled in the same way. I enjoyed the scholarly, yet emotional tone, and I feel it was well-written. The author took a problem-based approach, and by the end of the book, you realize that your issues with doubt are not the huge boulder on your back that you thought. Instead, you will realize that it is just an integral part of your walk as a Christian in this world. Highly recommended for the searching, new Christian, longtime Christian, and the struggling Christian.

And Samson is even placed in the category of Cain, Solomon and Judas! Is the author not aware of Hebrews 11:32?

Ever wondered why God is so silent?

One thing about the author Philip Yancey; he is NOT preachy ! Thats good for me!

Those who believe in God and want to know more about Him find themselves stuck with immense barriers.

" Talk about having a living relationship with God-Heck. I cant even see God ! "

How do you deal with an invisible God? Really.. HOW?

Yancey talks out of his own journey ,out of
sadness in his and other people's lives.

His frankness is what impresses me. He quotes people who believe in God, yet whose faith has been shattered by experiences.
And i am only halfway through the book.. will finish this review when i complete it.

Phillip Yancey had me thinking the entire time I was reading this book. He is profound in the way he looks at the body of Christ and our relationship to him. God is and can can expect to find him in unknown places if you look carfully. I found this book to be a challange. It's one you will need to read twice.
