The story "Peter and the Starcatchers" is about Peter, an orphan boy and his orphan friends, who enter a great and amazing fantasy world of stardust. Stardust is a magical substance that falls from stars and can make you do amazing things, for example:
> makes you fly
> heals things/ and people
>makes you incredibly happy
>can transform ordinary things into mythical, magical ones
>Other unknown things...
There are good people called the Starcatchers. They take the starstuff and Return it back into the sky. The people who use the starstuff for bad magic are called the Others.
When Peter and his friends are put on a ship to serve an evil king they don't know what starstuff is, but then a girl called Molly introduces them to it. The ship capsizes the starstuff, Peter, his friends and Molly get stranded on an island. On this island Molly tries to save the starstuff, because she is a starcatcher, and Peter and the orphans fight with the savages.
In the end Peter and Molly become close friends and Molly's parents offer Peter to live with them but Peter refuses. He wants to stay on the island with the savages because he has touched too much starstuff. That means he won't age anymore and can fly for the rest of his live. Because of these abilities he chooses to stay on the island with his friends.

Characters edit see section history

  • Peter: Peter is the protagonist who fantasizes about a place called Never Land. Described as orange-haired and blue-eyed, he is approximately twelve to fourteen years old, though he lies about his age. Peter gained leader status by being the oldest and being able to spit the farthest. Peter learns to fly by being exposed to a large amount of starstuff and surviving. By the end of the novel, Peter is stranded as an outcast on Mollusk Island, with the fairy Tinker Bell and his orphan friends
  • Molly Aster: A Starcatcher who helps Peter retrieve the starstuff. Molly is the daughter of the new ambassador to Rundoon, the famous Starcatcher Leonard Aster. Molly is an independent, strong-minded, twelve to fifteen-year-old. Molly can apparently speak the porpoise language, although she is not very fluent and constantly tells them her teeth are green, thinking she's saying "Hello".
  • Tubby Ted: A very chubby boy in the orphan gang who is always hungry. Often at times of peril he will be lamenting about the lack of food instead of panicking.
  • Black Stache: Black Stache is a disgusting, filthy pirate, captain of the ship The Sea Devil. Named Black Stache because of a near foot long mustache that he keeps perfectly groomed. He eats raw meat and keeps a very dirty cabin, earning the nickname of "Rat Breath" by his crew. Stache is very resourceful, capturing the naval ship The Wasp by using a corset-shaped sail. Black Stache is actually the future Captain Hook - his hand is cut off by Peter near the end of the novel.
  • James: James is Peter's "right hand man" in the orphan gang. He is very bright and willing to do whatever Peter says. He is also very reliable.
  • Leonard Aster: Leonard is Molly's father, the new ambassador to Rundoon and a famous Starcatcher. Even with his great skills, he falls for a switch between the real treasure and a fake. In the ending of the novel, Leonard uses the "treasure" to turn a bird into a beautiful fairy and presents it to Peter, thus introducing the role of Tinker Bell. He also gives Peter a gold Starcatcher locket.
  • Ammm: A porpoise.
  • Mr. Grin: The giant crocidial, owned by fighting prawn. He wants to eat Captin Hook.
  • King Zarboff the III: The king of the Others.
  • Smee: Black Stache's right-hand man
  • James: A young boy with a taste for adventure
