Gena Showalter has some fun with this one- playing in a world where most characters have a special super power. The semi-'Justice League' feel to the plot is a refreshing turn from Showalter's other novels. The writing is a little too forced, tries a little too hard, is too witty, too young adult at times, but still makes for a fast and fun read.

Gena Showalter is one of the best authors out there. She comes up with amazing ideas and her humor will have you laughing out loud. I've been very pleased with ALL books I've read by her. The characters in Playing With Fire will have you enthralled. I can't wait for the sequel.

Gena does it again! This was an amazing book. Full of wit and laugh out loud moments. It was a story much like X-Men where the good are trying to outrank the bad special people. Belle the star of the novel is like Spiderman. She ingests a formula that gives her the power to control the four elements. Of course she doesn't know how to control them at first so she does have a few accidents.

Gena did a great job with this book.

I'm off to start reading Catch A Mate by Gena. She sent me a personalized signed copy! I'm so thrilled!

By far the best chick superhero book I've read EVAR! Smart, snarky, and sexy, with surprises on every page.

I really, really enjoyed this book. At first, I wasn't too sure about it, mainly because Belle seemed like every other female protagonist in romances and chick lit out there, and while she is, I still liked her in the end. I did have a couple minor pet peeves, but nothing too serious. The first one was that the author said Rome was an alpha; I really don't think this was the case, he was more beta to the one in between (gamma? theta? something to that effect). Two, the thing with Tanner and someone who I won't name so I don't give it away was weird. I think it would have been fine if it hadn't appeared to come out of nowhere. But like I said, no biggie. Anyway, I thought the story/plot was good, the characters were well-done, especially Rome, Tanner was a hoot, and overall it was a nice, fast read! Oh, and I almost forgot! I do think that it would be great if there was a sequel (or more!), Gena Showalter left it completely open for that to happen.

I barked out loud more than once reading this book. Belle is hilarious and Rome is sexy.

I barked right out loud reading this. From Belle's resume, to the one liner's, to the bantering between friends. I think this is my favorite of her books.
