“For a man of obvious compassion, Andrew Greeley is curiously myopic when it comes to some topics. He doesn't seem to want to listen to others' opinions when they contradict his, even if those others know better than he how their lives are. He rudely dismisses the concerns of large women, for example, and comes up with truly insulting reasons for their opinions that his books show prejudice against them...rather than taking them at their word and accepting that he has truly hurt them. He also seems (based on reading his fiction for some time and some of his newspaper columns) to have very insulting and untrue opinions of atheists.
I wish more Christians held his beliefs about religion, but not his belief that he is infallible.”
