• Morgead Blackthorn: He was the leader of the vampire gang before Jez took it from him.
• Jim: Jez's uncle. Her mother's brother. He has a wife, Nanami, and two children - Claire, who is Jez's age, and Ricky, who is ten.
• Claire: Jezebel's cousin.
• Bracken Goddard: Jez's uncle, her father's brother.

• Ghoul: Semi-vampire. A human who was bled out but didn't get quite enough vampire blood in exchange to become a true vampire. A Ghoul is undead but rotting. It has very little mind, and only one idea in the world: to drink blood, usually by eating as much of a human body as possible. Ghouls like hearts.
• Old Soul: A human who reincarnates after dying. Usually has many past lives. A wakened Old Soul is even more rare - that is a human that remembers all his past lifetimes, making him smarter and more clearheaded every time he was born.
• The Old Powers: The Ancient Magic that had controlled the universe in the old days of the Night World. No one could see or know the Old Powers; they were forces of nature, not people. And they had been sleeping like giant dragons for thousands of years ever since humans had gained control of the world.
• The soulmate principle: The idea that for every person there was one destined soulmate, one true love, and that the two souls were bound for eternity.
