“I didn't know much about economics before entering grad school, and this was one of the books I picked up to prepare. I found it to be clear, simple, and incredibly valuable. For anyone looking for an introduction to economics, this is the book.”

Search me, but this stuff normally comes over as very dull and boring, but this books puts everything into the perspective. Although sometimes a bit too conservative for my palate', it's good to see how "these people" think.”

A field of study which not only requires attention to detail (as any scientist would be required to do) but also broader context in which it is being done (as any historian would be required to do). Brilliant layman introduction to Economics. Wish I had something similar in my undergrad. The only Economics class I took in undergrad was so boring that all I can remember is memorizing 14 principles by someone. One of the lasting memories of that undergrad class was a demonstration of how information gets distorted when it passes through many people. Prof. Srinivasan said something to a student which probably passed on to many others and then finally ended at the ears of MS Sriram. I don't remember the details of that information but in the end what Sriram said was not what Prof. had actually conveyed.”

I enjoyed reading it. People compare the book unfavorably to Freakonomics, but I think this is the kind of book for people who love stories and hate statistics.”
