- Jake Gallo: The main character. Elmer's favorite among his children. An aspiring writer. Went on to publish his first book based from his father's memoirs.
- Elmer Gallo: Titular character of the book. The patriarch of the Gallo Family. One of the first chickens to learn how to speak and became a writer due to his dedication to chronicle their lives.
- Farmer Ben: Elmer's Best Friend. A human who works at the poultry and smuggled Elmer, Helen, and Joseph when he learned that they can talk.
- Freddie "Francis" Gallo: Jake and May's brother, a famous movie star - rumored to be gay.
- May Gallo: Jake and Freddie's sister, works at the hospital. Is engaged to a human, Doctor Michael Villegas.
- Helen Gallo: Elmer's wife, mother to Jake, Freddie, and May. Along with Elmer and Joseph, she survived the Chicken Slaughter but is shaken up because of the ordeal.
- Joseph: Elmer's brother. A fighting cock. Has animosity towards humans.
- Michael Villegas: May's fiance, a doctor who works at the same hospital with May.
- Anna Rosie: A child actress turned sexy star. Francis co-star and Jake's object of affection.
