A book I've returned to several times. I don't know anyone by Walker who can make the relationship between Carlotta's husband and mother something so beautiful even as it pains. I've carried portions of this around with me for years; the Gospel of Shug; a quote about not letting walls go up between ourselves and others and other parts of ourselves. The story of rich-kid turned into true rebel. So many beautiful stories in here, any one of them would have sufficed.
