- Lucy: Througout the book you learn detail by detail of Lucy. The author does an amazing job of creating imagery for each character. Lucy is a young adolescent in high school who seems to be less concerned with finding her place in the world, and more with keeping distant from others. She yearns to fit in, but is restraint by the secret her family holds.
- Lucy's mother: A hoarder who loves her items more than her two youngest children.
- Phil: Lucy's brother whom is no longer living in the household
- Sara: Lucy's sister; also her mother oldest daughter and favorite child
